About the Role
WikiWriters is looking for experienced Wikipedia draft writers to join our freelance team. You will research subjects, write complete article drafts in your own sandbox, and prepare them for submission through Wikipedia’s review process. We work with individuals, companies, creatives, and organisations, and every project is carried out as disclosed paid editing.
Responsibilities
- •Check each subject’s notability against Wikipedia’s guidelines and report honestly when coverage is too thin
- •Find and evaluate independent, reliable sources
- •Write full drafts in a neutral, encyclopedic tone, with no promotional language
- •Structure articles to Wikipedia standards: lead section, body sections, infobox, categories, and references
- •Format citations correctly using Wikipedia’s markup
- •Submit drafts for review and respond to reviewer feedback and declines
- •Revise rejected or stalled drafts until they meet the guidelines
- •Disclose paid editing on your user page and in each project, as Wikipedia requires
Requirements
- •An established Wikipedia account with a visible edit history
- •Previous drafts or articles you have written that were accepted by Wikipedia
- •Working knowledge of notability, verifiability, neutral point of view, and conflict-of-interest rules
- •Strong research and writing skills, with careful attention to sourcing
- •Comfort working independently and meeting deadlines
- •A willingness to turn down projects that don’t qualify
